Seca event summary:
TCC
official times
Saturday
was unbelievable. Being born and raised in NH I know that 60's in December
cannot be beat. This was my third time at LSIR and first time on R compound
tires. I was looking forward to this day for quite a while cause it was
going to be an experience to remember. The car ran great and I felt like it
was worth every penny that I just dumped into it. Being the only
two 99 Cobras at this event, Rob and I try to represent what we've
brought to the track as best as we can. My previous best lap time @ LSIR was
in the 1.52 range on Firestone SZ50's and on Saturday I ran 1:48.94
with no clear laps. Things were looking very good at this point.
On Sunday Rick asked me what I was going to work on at being faster. T6 was
my primary target and to take it out father on the T11 exit. The first
session of the day on the third lap I came in way to early for T6 and
clipped the nasty jagged teeth they have there and sent the ass end flying
out at over 80 mph. I lined up wrong and went WOT during corner entry and I
won't do it ever again. (There's now some nice footage of me doing the
"Wax
on, Wax off technique for speed freaks". The car slid right,
snapped back left and then back right. Some might call it a great save; some
might call it bad form. You decide.
Now on to session two. I followed Rick and his line around for some of
my best lap times ever. Our last lap I hit 1:46.20. Finally...all this damn
money has paid off with going faster than I had set my expectations to.
1:48's were my goal before running the event and I walked away with 2 extra
seconds. A new goal has now been set for myself for January and with new Yok
A032R's on their way....consistent 1:45's will be within reach.
